What can rainbows teach us on a spiritual level?

Allowing light to come through challenging situations to bring through something of beauty and wisdom.

Having dreamt of a rainbow the other night, I then woke up with a song in my head before I could barely open my eyes. The song took me back to my early childhood and it was 'I can sing a rainbow.'

Why do we have rainbows?

I've always been one for paying attention to my dreams as I feel there is a deeper message in there, especially a dream as vivid as the one I had with the most vibrant colours of the rainbow in 'high definition.' So this prompted me to look up what happens on a physical level when we have rainbows before I felt into what this meant symbolically for me. Here's the science bit of what Google told me as to why we have rainbows (science was never my strongest subject at school so I had to look it up):

'Rainbows are caused by sunlight and atmospheric conditions. When light enters a water droplet, it slows down and bends as it goes from air to denser water. The light reflects off the inside of the droplet, separating into its component wavelengths - or colour. When light exits the droplet, it makes a rainbow.'

Symbolic interpretation of rainbows for me:

When you bring light to a dense situation (a challenge or something you find heavy), you can allow your emotions (the water droplets in the rainbow analogy) to move through you. You bring more light in (the analogy of light going through the water droplets). Once this happens, during what you may perceive as a challenging situation, something beautiful can emerge (the analogy of light exiting the water droplet and making the rainbow).

You may well think that's not easy and from experience I hold my hand up to say I haven't always found it easy but when I have asked the question 'What quality wants to emerge within me right now?', this enables me to come out of victim mode and 'grow through it' rather than just 'go through it.'

How can you 'sing your own rainbow?'

In the kids song 'I can sing a rainbow' it got me wondering what singing a rainbow symbolised for me. I tuned in and what came through was that it was about using my/your voice to bring into being, that which is your highest vision. I then asked the question, 'How can I use my voice to bring into being my highest vision?' This is what followed:

  • Affirm out loud what it is I want to experience.
  • Share my voice with others.
  • Record my voice on my phone saying what I want to manifest as if it is here right now, along with how I am feeling now that it is here. Then play it back to myself.
  • Tune into my chakras (energy centres) where each one vibrates to a particular colour (the rainbow).

All this from a dream and a kids song! I know it was my dream but take from it anything that resonates with you.
